With Hip Hop being taken away from the spotlight, everybody is trying to figure out who is keeping this genre alive? In almost all these popular rap songs, rappers always crown themselves as the King. But when A-Reece dubbed himself the best rapper in Africa, he caught so much flack and here's why.

A-Reece started trending not only in the country but also in the States when he tweeted that he is the best rapper in the continent. The rapper, who by the way has a new EP out called The Burning Tree (TBT), ruffled a few feathers when he crowned himself the best.

Like always, he got pitted against other rappers in the country including his closest match Nasty C, Emtee and even Blxckie.

Here are some of the reactions:

To prove his loyal fan base A-Reece was nominated at the South African Hip Hop Awards and one of the big categories A-Reece is nominated in is the the Artist Of The Decade category. People complained saying he had not been in the game for 10 years so how could he have been nominated?

He was leading with votes as he was nominated with Kuli Chana, Kwesta, Riky Rick, AKA, Nadia Nakai, Da Les, Cassper Nyovest, Emtee, K.O, Nasty C Stogie T, A Reece, Youngsta CPT, Gigi Lamayne and Zakwe.

But after all the voting was done, Cassper ended up winning the award.

A-Reece and Emtee had a little bit of disagreement but it seems as though they let bygones be bygones and buried the hatchet. The two hashed things over a joint and Reece gushes over Emtee, "Bro you ain’t never really smoked until you smoke with pH, DJ Maphorisa, Wordz & Emtee," said A-Reece.

Their "beef" or should we say miaunderstanding started during their Ambitiouz days when Emtee revealed to MacG during his interview, that Reece was actually the  one who told them that they are getting screwed over. Emtee then revealed that he said some pretty harsh words to Reece and other artists who left the label.

Emtee then ignored A reece because he said he has kids to take care of so he could not have beef with the label.

Reece even spoke about their fallout with Pearl Thusi on Behind The Story, "I’m gonna put it out how it is. You see, Emtee, he had the same feelings I had about the label and his were probably worse because they were bottled in. I remember we had a show in PLK and I was with him in the Van. It was me, him and Flame and he was like ‘yoh, you can’t even be an artist as yourself in this label because you are marginalized. I think I am going to leave sooner than I thought'– those were his words, " he said.

Emtee then turned around and said he would not work with ex-Ambitipuz signees. He said they all just left him.

"My frustration was just, ey, these people left. That means there's something they know that they didn’t tell us. So ya’ll leaving us here? I was just mad about that. I was like' if y'all gonna be like that, be like that. I feel like music is greater than words of exchange. Just because I said “F* you” yesterday, don’t mean I shouldn’t work with you…”
