Amanda Black is the Idols South African alumni and talented vocalist who in 2015 broke out into the music industry with her classic single Amazulu. A single she followed up with the 2016 best-selling album of the same name. However, thereafter, as the beginning of the unravelling of her career.

Primarily, this was as a result of the end of her relationship with the record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. As such, Amanda then signed with SONY Records, where she released her subsequent two albums including Power and the 2021 release of Mnyama.
However, following the release of her third album, the focus was not on Amanda the singer but on Amanda the Twitter account. A matter she is looking to change with her recent announcement.
Amanda Black set to return with new music
For the past two years, it can be argued that Amanda Black was making headlines for everything but her music. This is as Amanda was one of the most vocal media personalities on the fact that the government was forcing the general public to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Her vehement stance on rebuking the matter was based on the fact that the drugs were not tested enough to know what effects they will have on the patients in question in the long run. A matter which was proven to be true as there is growing speculation on the adverse effects of the vaccine.
Moreover, the singer-songwriter seemed to have gone through a spiritual change in her life which saw her want to return to the basics. This is as she has confirmed that she has been simplifying her lifestyle and slowly working on rejecting the capitalistic norms of the status quo.
But for her fans, her socio-political stance was not what made them fall in love with her. It was her music. Therefore, there has been a call for the I Do songstress to return back to what made the public fall in love with her. As such, Amanda recently took to her social media to confirm that after a two-year break, she is ready to release her first single.
Titled Nguwe, the mid-tempo seemingly R&B single sounds like the Amanda Black the public knows and loves. The single seems to be talking about a relationship that is currently facing its ebb. However, Amanda seems to be asserting that despite the difficult times they are facing, they can overcome these obstacles because the love interest is the love of her life.
Following the confirmation of her upcoming single, it was not only her fans that welcomed the news. But looking at the announcement on Instagram, even her fellow contemporary musicians welcomed her return to releasing music.
This included the likes of J’Something, Cici, and Thabsie, who herself has taken more than an extended hiatus from releasing new music. Maybe Amanda Black returning to releasing music might inspire Thabsie to also return to releasing music. Specifically, classic local R&B bops.
