Amapiano is a sound that came up during the height of the lockdown and the pandemic. As such, it ushered in a slew of notable Amapiano artists who are well on their way to being millionaires, if they are not already. However, Hip-Hop on the other hand, is a sound in South Africa that has long established its icons and legends.

Due to this fact, infiltrating this market to become one of its pioneers to some extent is not as easy. However BET Awards nominee, Blxckie, has proved everyone wrong who believed that at the height of Amapiano, that Hip-Hop was dying. Not only did he prove the sentiments that Hip-Hop is not dead. But he showcased how as a Hip-Hop artist, you can translate your sound into a number of other unexpected genres like Amapiano.

It seems that it is that versatility that has garnered him trolls and hate on the blue app. However, it seems that the young musician from KZN is not fazed as he keeps winning.

Blxckie hated over SETE verse

SETE by K.O, featuring Young Stunna and Blxckie is currently the biggest song in South Ah. It earned K.O credit for how well his “comeback” has gone so far, and earned Young Stunna more kudos in terms of his songwriting ability as he is credited for the verse.

However, when it comes to Blxckie, it seems to draw the ire from most music listeners who are in love with the song. This is as a number of tweeps took to the timeline to suggest that his verse was unnecessary on the track and it could have done without. During his interview on Kaya 959 Breakfast, the rapper-vocalist expressed that he was affected by the backlash initially, despite making peace and ignoring the hate he receives.

As such, considering that his previous release 4LUV was a R&B deluxe album, Blxckie confirmed that his third studio album, THE4MULA would be a purely Hip-Hop body of work. However, things got a bit complicated when Rihanna announced that she would be releasing her first official single in six years on Friday, 28 October 2022, which was the same day of the release of Blxckie’s album.

But Blxckie was unfazed as he took to Twitter in the week ahead of his release to assert everytime a new release was announced that angim'sabi, which is the isiZulu term for, “I’m not fazed.” This seemed to rub some tweeps the wrong way as they attempted to drag Blxckie for filth by suggesting that his album release would flop.

But Blxckie proved them wrong ten-fold, not only was his album appreciated and streamed. But THE4MULA also managed to kick Taylor Swift from the local Apple Music album charts’ number one spot. A fact which he thanked his fans for as he could not have done it without them.

His continuous support stems from the amount of love and respect that Blxckie shows his fans who started the journey with him during his SoundCloud days and have remained one of the most loyal fan base any South African artist can have.
