Cassper Nyovest's stock and reputation are both at an all time high, not only in Mzansi but across the world. We saw this once again this week when he was mentioned on a radio show in the States.
He was not just mentioned by any old radio folks either. The rapper found himself being the topic of conversation between Charlamagne The God and legendary producer Swizz Beatz on Power 105.1's hit show, The Breakfast Club. The two hip hop lovers, alongside DJ Envy, discussed the importance of adapting DJ sets in different territories and South Africa was mentioned as an example.
DJ Envy began by saying, "Those days when you play different shows overseas whether you're in Japan or South Africa or Africa, and you go an you DJ and you played all New York or Hip Hop music. But now you play like 10% of that but you playing South African music like you're playing their artists!"
Charlamagne continued the conversation by adding that when he was in South Africa, Cassper Nyovest "Killed it" when he performed after Ed Sheeran but before Jay Z and Beyonce as a co-headliner.
Swizz Beatz added to the "And he killed it more than everybody. It's his town!" Although Mafikeng is his town, we get the point Swizz was making; at the moment in time, Cassper Nyovest was the king of the Jungle (cue Mufasa jokes) and nobody was willing to dispute it.
After noticing the mention, Cassper Nyovest showed love and appreciation to Charlamagne and Swizz Beatz for recognizing his influence in Mzansi:
It seems we've come a long way from the days when Charlamagne didn't know Cassper and simply referred to him as "some artist from Africa". Now we can't wait for American rappers to start getting excited about featuring on our radio stations.
