The entertainment industry has grown exponentially in Mzansi. However, as it grows, so do many people’s interests in being in the industry, making it even harder to find opportunities and leading to many of our artists being buried with just their status. But there are some celebrities who see beyond the glitz and the glam.
In 2018, we’ve seen quite a lot of celebs venturing into the business space, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Thembi Seete and Mbali Nkosi
Thembi Seete and Mbali Nkosi have come a long way, and their sisterhood within the limelight has always been about securing the ba - from Mbali becoming Seete's backup dancer, taking over her radio show, to later co-owning the Azuri brand with Sharon Khuzwayo, and launching their makeup brand in September this year. We can safely say that this is a union to be inspired by.
Mapaseka Koetla
Scandal! actress, Mapaseka ‘Pasi’ Koetle has left her mark in the entertainment industry. She felt the need to create a business for herself outside of the limelight by opening the George Grab n Go cafe in Sandton with her husband.
Hulisani Ravele
Child star Hulisani Ravele has become a powerhouse in the media industry and as we've watched her grow her brand, we’ve also seen her broaden her horizon by embarking on a journey in the business space by partnering with a Parktown-based beauty bar called Studio Moma.
Cornet Mamabolo
Actor Cornet Mamabolo has had a great passion for education in the rural areas. In 2018, he not only took the plunge by building a local library in a village in Limpopo, but he continues to raise funds for books to be donated to various community libraries through his Cornet M foundation.
Khanyi Mbau
Media personality Khanyi Mbau has been a relatable brand for many in Mzansi, and as she’s been dabbling between acting and presenting, amongst other media-related gigs. She took us all by surprise when she launched her own gin on 1 December.
