Local Netflix comedy series How To Ruin Christmas is back for season 3 and South Africa’s beloved television presenter Denise Zimba has been announced as the latest addition to the comedy series a few days after the late veteran actress Busi Lurayi was announced to have been leaving the show in its third season. Zimba who joins the cast as Zama took to Instagram to share her excitement to be joining this star-studded cast and Netflix at large.

This announcement comes right after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela had teased the casting news for this season of How To Ruin Christmas last night. Mphela tweeted, “Busi Lurayi left How To Ruin Christmas season 3. The recently deceased star was not part of the upcoming iteration of the hit Netflix limited series. According to Netflix, the Tumi character had wrapped its storyline in season 2, hence Tumi left the group.”
His Twitter thread continued announcing Zimba as the new addition to the key cast of the season titled The Baby Shower. “Denise Zimba is the new addition as Zama,” wrote Phil.
Recently wedded Denise Zimba also took to her Instagram page to share the exciting news and wrote in a lengthy caption, “very excited to be joining the team of HOW TO RUIN CHRISTMAS SEASON 3eeeeee . THANK YOU to the amazing cast and crew for welcoming me with open arms! The love from you all has been incredible. Here’s to shooting a hilarious piece of art! Can’t wait for you all to meet THE SLAY QUEEN ZAMA!!”
About The Show’s New Season
The third season of South Africa's favourite festive series How To Ruin Christmas will be titled The Baby Shower. Having celebrated two chaotic, hilarious, and drama-filled Christmases, the Sellos and Twalas reunite to celebrate Beauty (Thando Thabethe) and Sbu's (Sandile Mahlangu) upcoming birth. We are set for a showdown between the two families with plenty of mishaps, saucy secrets, and yes, even Succulent!
Joining the formidable cast is Denise Zimba who plays Zama, a vivacious and determined slay queen who brings more chaos to an already imploding baby shower. Christmas will be ruined again.
The first two instalments of How To Ruin Christmas: The Wedding, and How To Ruin Christmas: The Funeral were released to critical acclaim in 2020 and 2021 respectively and are streaming exclusively on Netflix. How To Ruin Christmas: The Baby Shower is set to be released later this year.
The limited series is made successful under the Burnt Onion Productions company and by creators Rethabile Ramphakela and Katleho Ramaphakela. It is written by Sunni Faba, Thuso Sibisi, Salah Sabiti, directed by Johnny Barbuzano and Ferry Jele.
