The funeral and memorial details for the late hip-hop DJ Tumi Mooi who was popularly known as DJ Dimplez, have been announced.

DJ Dimplez passed away this past weekend after he suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage.

"We ask for your space and respect as we process Tumi's tragic passing. Thank you for your understanding," the Mooi family said in a statement.

According to another statement that the family recently released, the DJ will be laid to rest in a private ceremony this Friday 11 March, and his memorial service will be held right after the funeral service.

Sharing the family's statement on Instagram, DJ Sphectacula said he is still struggling to come to terms with Dimplez's passing.

He wrote, "Ya neh. This just refuses to sink in. Why’s it always the good ones? Had sent him some archive pics recently that I’ll share on here over the next few days. Flip through some here. Hope you are comforted somewhat by the chuckles. All my dude ever wanted to see was us all being happy. #ripdjdimplez"

K Naomi has also paid tribute to the late DJ. She said she is grateful to have been part of his life.

The TV presenter also shared how she and DJ Dimplez became friends. "I earned my first R500 from you when you had asked me to invite people to Pop Bottles at 88. That’s when we became friends…" she shared.

K Naomi also thanked the late DJ for being an amazing friend. She continued, "I'm sad I’m even writing this but I’m at peace knowing that I made sure you knew what you meant to me. Thank you for being such an amazing friend dude! It’s rare to find such in Joburg, especially from the opposite gender.

"Thank you for being there through the lows and highs, I hope I showed up for you too in the best way possible. Tumz we were about to celebrate soon!!!!! But God's plan, God's timing right? RIP Bitso.Thank you once again for your presence in my life…"

Also paying homage to the late DJ, Reason HD said he is happy that he got to tell him how much he meant to him. “You were one of the last real niggaz alive. And now … you’re gone. The only joy I have is knowing that I got a chance to express my love and appreciation to you in person. I had let you down last year and You loved, forgave, and schooled me through it. Like an older brother would. And for that… I poured my heart out to you for being a f**ken dope a** human,” he wrote.
