In celebration of her 30th birthday, Lamiez did a series of photoshoots where she embraced her culture. She also debuted a look where she donned a straight weave, leaving her almost unrecognisable.
Fans had only the nicest things to say about her with some wishing she could keep this new look as it suits her. We couldn't agree more.
Lamiez had a themed birthday celebration at her home which she shares with Khuli Chana, attended by family and friends. She dressed as Pocahontas. Here are a few posts from Lamiez's photoshoot which shook the timelines.
Lamiez penned a sweet birthday note to herself in celebration of her reaching the dirty thirties. Lamiez likened herself to be both a princess and a warrior regardless of the fact that she looks like your typical warrior, far from being a princess.
"Once upon a time(30 years ago, to be exact) A BLACK PRINCESS WARRIOR was born. Born in to a world where āwarriorā and āprincessā were two opposing ideals.
"See, whilst princesses wore big dresses, had long hair and light skin, warriors were big, full of fight and black. Princesses were gentle and needed to be saved whilst warriors were strong, vilified, dark yet brave?"
"You LAMIEZ, you are and always have been both," she added.
Lamiez said she stood true to herself, "YOU became the SUPERHERO you desperately needed to see as a child. You redefined what a princess is and broke every rule and every box that society tried to put you in."
Lamiez exudes confidence in ways that leaves her haters reeling with jealousy. She often gets body shamed but she stands her ground saying she will never be someone she is not neither will she ever edit her pictures to suit their narrative.
"After reading the crazy comments under this post, I decided to use this opportunity to TEACH," she started off. Lamiez was referencing a picture she posted on vacation with her husband, wearing a zebra print bodysuit.
"Thereās a reason why I didnāt edit or use a filter to hide my thighs simply because...Dark skin on the inner thighs can be experienced by anyone, regardless of skin tone. It occurs when the skin on the inner thigh produces an abundance of melanin, a pigment that gives skin its color."
"This is called hyperpigmentation. The discoloration of dark inner thighs may even stretch into the bikini or groin area. Black child, it is perfectly normal and okay," she said.
"And to everyone else, before ong phaphela (before you become forward) or anyone else for that matter- ask yourself gore āKe tsena kaeā (what does that have to do with me?) I donāt have a problem with it, so why should you????"
