Hot off the back of the Soweto edition of his One Man Show series, Shimza has shared even more news worth celebrating after being recognised by American music authority, Billboard.
The DJ was mentioned in the magazine's list of emerging Dance artists from around the world and he couldn't hide his excitement as he took to social media to let us all know about his latest achievement. Billboard absolutely poured the compliments all over the man from Tembisa when they wrote:
"Representing for South Africa, Shimza comes through with a hybrid of native influences and international styles to create something authentically fresh and inspired".
The Billboard team, who had clearly done their research, also highlighted the amount of work that Shimza puts into his annual one-man show in Tembisa where he uses the proceeds of his concert to raise funds for school children who need to go to school the following year.
An excited Shimza took to social media to let us know that he was officially Billboard certified when he wrote:
South African musicians have made the Billboard charts on an occasional basis (one of the most recent is rapper, Saudi, who cracked the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to his contribution to X on the Black Panther soundtrack last year) and Shimza will be fancying his chances after being recognised by the publication.
In the meantime, the DJ will be shifting his attention from the West (where Billboard resides) to central Europe where he will be bringing his One Man Show next. Shimza is set to Portugal next month before preparing for the highly anticipated Tembisa leg of his concert series at the end of the year.
Shout out to the boy for flying our flag high!
