In South Africa, there are many historical sites that are named in honour of our late political figures. These are individuals that played key roles in championing the plight of those who didn't have a voice or strength to bring about changes in the community.
In schools, pupils are being indoctrinated with historical curriculum, which largely focuses on a much older generation of individuals, but besides the likes of much younger struggle heroes such as Hector Pieterson, Tsietsi Mashinini, and Solomon Mahlangu, not much can be said about young icons who have had a positive impact in their communities or society.
Next week will see an interesting change in stale tides as the city of Ekurhuleni is set to unveil a new theatre in Germiston called, Dumisani Masilela Theatre.
The executive mayor of Ekhurhuleni, Mzwandile Masina announced on Twitter, that the new theatre will serve as an honour to the late musician and actor, Dumi Masilela.

Dumi passed away in August 2017, in a horrific car hijacking, after being gunned down several times.
He is survived by his equally creative wife, Simphiwe Ngema, his siblings and mother.
The new theatre is named after the former Rhythm City actor and 2013 Idols contestant who hailed from Germiston, as the community has always felt represented by him; especially young people.
