In a move no-one saw coming, Kelly Khumalo has been dropped from her upcoming role in the Lebo Mathosa biopic over her apparent diva behaviour.
The Lonely Fool singer was tipped to play the legendary Boom Shaka singer in the BET Africa series Dream: The Lebo Mathosa Story set to air next month , however sources reveal that the star was shown the door shortly after filming began.
And Kelly's alleged bad attitude is to blame for her dismissal.
A source told City Press: “She didn’t want to share her wardrobe room with other actors and made everyone’s job difficult. They had to let her go."
Kelly was also allegedly unhappy with her pay for the iconic role.
The source added: “She has been complaining to the producers of the show how unhappy she was with the money she was offered but I guess they failed to meet her demands.
“So this might be one of the reasons she left."
Kelly's reps, however, have claimed that she will 'tell her side of the story' in due time.
Her manager, Pat, told City Press: “Due to a contractual agreement between my client and the production house we cannot comment at this stage. When she is ready she will tell her side of the story."
With Kelly out of the role, another prominent singer has picked up the reigns - Keabetswe “KB” Motsilanyane.
KB - who plays the role of Lesedi Moloi on Afrikaans soapie 7de Laan - has already started filming scenes for the series.
Alongside KB, Somizi's daughter Bahumi Madisakwane will star in the series as a young Lebo Mathosa.
Seems like Beyonce was right when she said no-one is irreplaceable!
