The late veteran actor, radio, and theatre legend Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa, will be celebrated for his sterling contribution to the arts this September. While Mahuma has left an indelible mark in the entertainment industry, his legacy lives on.
The veteran theatre giant who died in December 2020, will be honored through the Paul Rapetsoa Legacy Month Extravaganza, which is taking place this September.

His son, Matome Rapetsoa, who is the founder and Group Chief Executive of Mahuma Group(Pty)Ltd, started this initiative and he says it is aimed at celebrating, embracing, and restoring the legacy of Mahuma Paul Rapetsoa.
It is without a doubt that bra Paul was a force to be reckoned with in the industry and his career spanned several decades. The passion had for theatre has, over the years) since the late 70's), made him one of the greatest playwrights, directors, and thespians of our time.
During his career, he penned no less than 15 thought-provoking and hard-hitting stage plays which have contributed immensely to the growth and positive change. The late actor also starred in numerous plays such as "Circumstances", which featured the late Ndaba “Mshefane” Mhlongo, Mary Twala, and Somizi Mhlongo
His other work includes "Forget About Me", "Get Down." He was also head of the drama department at the SABC for a decade where he produced some of the best radio dramas to ever grace our airwaves, such as "Ba tla kwa ka mang", "Leswiswing La Pelo."

According to Paul, they will be hosting two productions in his honor as part of the festivities. The productions will be performed at the Library Gardens Auditorium in Polokwane today on the 27th and 28th of September 2022.
Paul Rapetsoa’s Beyond will play on 29th and 30th September 2022, and it will be Makwela Lekalakala’s THE SHOW MUST GO ON,
At the time of his death Bra Paul was the artistic Director of (Mahuma Group(Pty)Ltd, 2014 - 2020), a company founded and led by his son and protege’ Matome Rapetsoa where a number of awareness focused industrial theatre productions were produced by him and Matome over the years for an array of clients from the government and private sector.
”Having this icon as part of us was epic and exciting each day. There was never a dull moment with BPaul. Don't get me started on how much we’ve all learnt from this maestro…passion and professionalism personified”, Matome said.
Speaking about what he remembers about his late father he said "Passion Passion Passion, my late father was a hard working, dedicated, disciplined thespian of note who spoke through his mighty pen…he remains the epitome of one of his favourite scriptures that he lived by, 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race…I have kept the faith”….a humble soul who always reminded us of the importance of these three little words…”please, thank you, I’m sorry," he said.
Matome added "Bra Paul’s works continue to motivate and elevate communities each day and it’s on us to ensure that the legacy of this legend remains alive moving on…that is what the “Paul Rapetsoa Legacy Month Extravaganza” is all about, we are very proud to be launching this annual Arts Festival which we know will grow strength to strength each year…exposing, nurturing, sustaining and celebrating our performing artists is right at the core of what this initiative aims to achieve…so each year during the month of September we shall be celebrating this doyen the only way we know how…we are appealing to everyone to come be part of this groundbreaking journey."
