A Lockdown Soundtrack is on the way

Speaking at an exclusive farewell dinner for American actress Tichina Arnold, held last night in Sandton, Black Brain pictures' Mandla N confirmed that a Lockdown soundtrack is on the way.

While fans may feel as though this is long overdue considering the fact that the show will now be entering its third season, the team is convinced that this is the perfect time.

A number of new and returning cast members were in attendance at the dinner, including, Lauren Jenae, Dineo Nchabeleng, Manaka Ranaka, Khulu Skenjana, Stevel Marc and more.

It was upon Neliswe Sibiya's arrival that Mandla confirmed that Black Brain would be releasing the soundtrack this season before Sibiya gave us a taste of what to expect. The dates and distribution channels thereof will be announced in due course.

Tichina also took the opportunity to share her first experience working on a South African production and gushed over Mandla N's directoral abilities as well as that of her fellow cast.

In an exclusive chat with ZAlebs, Arnold explained the challenge of having to portray an American story in a South African context, stating "I had to think about a lot of things, you know? I never think about being an American... until I got here and it wasn't easy. Being amongst a bunch of South Africans and people from all over, to be able to fit in as an American was not easy. It was challenging but it was fun. I was able to try to find my way through the story lines."

"What I loved is so synonymous with black women, is that we all have similar stories, but we're just on different continents. That's all," she added.

Arnold admitted that the language barrier did come into play a lot because whenever the cast and crew would crack jokes in their native languages on set, someone would have to translate it back to her so she could feel included.

She reiterated that she will be bringing her daughter to South Africa so that she could also experience the country the way she did.

Lockdown season 3 airs on Monday, 9 July 2018 at 8pm on Mzansi magic, DSTV channel 161.
