Congratulations are in order for Skeem Saam star Lydia Mokgokoloshi. The actress has scored a new acting gig.
According to the Entertainment Commentator Phil Mphela, the legendary actress is joining the popular SABC 2's telenovela Giyani: Land Of Blood that airs on Mondays to Wednesdays at 21h30.
"Veteran actress, best known to tv viewers as MmaNkwesheng and Nkoko Mantsha on #SkeemSaam, will play Manoko’s mother," Phil tweeted.

Lydia Mokgokoloshi has starred on many TV shows since the inception of her career back in the 1980s. The 82-year-old actress is popular for her character as Hunadi (Nkosheng's mother) on Bophelo Ke Semphego.
In 2017, the veteran actress received the honorary Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
Receiving her award, she thanked fans for the support and the Skeem Saam crew and cast memebers. "Thank you to all South Africans. You have loved me so much. I can't even walk and wherever I walk they all want my photo. Thank you to [the] Skeem Saam crew and all those who are playing with me, she said as quoted by SowetanLive.
She added: "I really feel honoured to be called granny and I feel so proud to be a granny, although sometimes I can be so cruel and injure you with a needle pin. If you came into my house without informing, remember you can be injured somehow. I'm so happy and honoured. I honour those who are writing the scripts, dressing us and the production companies."
Last year the TV star received another well-deserved honour from the Limpopo Arts Movement. The movement's president Mpho Mashabela told Daily Sun that they saw it fit to give Lydia such an honorary gesture after 40 years in the entertainment industry.
"We realised that throughout her career, she has never been honoured in her own province yet she has done so much to put her province on the map...We took the fake news as a sign that we must appreciate and thank her while she is still alive," Mpho told the publication.
This came after the actress fell victim to a death hoax. Read More: Skeem Saam's Koko Mantsha Is Alive
Meanwhile, speaking to Daily Sun about the honour, Lydia said she was happy to be honoured in her home province. She said, “I’m now 82 and I’ve never been honoured in any way. I’m, therefore, excited to finally be honoured in my home province. For me, this means my talent didn’t go to waste. I’m glad I’m finally being recognised for my contributions. I’m even more excited that this is happening while I’m still alive,” she told the publication.
