The death of Riky Rick, though it was a huge shock and is still heartbreaking for everyone in Mzansi, has already had some good come from it. The most noticeable is that celebrities are now opening up about their own struggles with mental health, and Boity Thulo is the latest one to share her feelings of being overwhelmed by everything going on in the world right now.
The rapper recently took to Twitter with a post on the tragedies that we are living through at the moment. From a global pandemic, which not only claimed the lives of many of our loved ones, but also changed life as we know it, possibly forever – to the possible war that is brewing in Europe, with Russia invading Ukraine and the rest of the world uncertain of how it will turn out.
She spoke on how everybody is currently having to deal with so many “once in a lifetime” events, and it’s so much that we don’t even get time to process one before we are hit with another one. Now, according to her post, we are all trying to process, but because of the demands of everyday life and other tragedies that need our attention, we end up numbing it all by scrolling endlessly on social media.
This has to be the most beautiful explanation of what is going on in the world right now, and we are glad that someone has found the words to articulate it. Boity, like the rest of us, is feeling the pressure, and we can only band together if we hope to make it through it all.
She is not the only celebrity who has confessed to feeling like everything is a little crazy of late. Singer, DJ and producer Nkazimulo Ngema, popularly known as TNS Music, recently opened up about toying with the thought of ending it all.
He took to Facebook to say that he fully intends to end his life, but he will wait until after he releases his new single ‘Kubi’, which translates to ‘Things are hard’.
Speaking to the Daily Sun, he offered more information on his plan to take his life. He said that he blames the government for failing to intervene and make things better for the youth who are struggling.
"No matter of counselling or begging or convincing will help. I just want the country to go back to normal if not then I'm prepared to be the sacrifice of the industry. I'm already hearing voices in my head, the spirits are constantly talking to me and this is it for me," he told the publication.
