According to Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, it is not clear yet whether all the cast members will return for the 2nd season. He broke the news today stating that, "the series has been greenlit for the second season and production will start soon."
Fans took to the comments section to express their excitement. @SiphosenjabuloX is looking forward to the new season, " Greatest talent I’d really like to see them come back and that we see the characters individually develop so that we witness them in a different glance than that we saw initially when the season commenced."
Starring in the series is SAFTA-winning actress and the former Scandal star Masasa Mbangeni as Joyce, Nolwazi Shange as Sibongile, Luzuko Nkqeto as Qiniselo, Oros Mampofu as Musa, Ncibijana Madlala as Godfrey, and Zimkitha Kumbaca as Busisiwe.
The series tells a story of a young girl (Ntokozo played by Lungilo Mpangase) who was stolen from her biological mother (Joyce) shortly after birth.
Speaking about her role to News24 in April this year, Masasa Mbangeni said it came at the right time when she had just lost her job at Scandal. "I hadn't been shooting for a while due to Covid, and my Scandal character, Thembeka, had just died. This role came at a beautiful time when I had made peace with her death. Let's just say, an opportunity to work during the pandemic came and I grabbed it with both hands."
She said one of the lessons that she learned from her character is resilience, "I've also learned the importance of staying closer to the truth. Even when her child was lost, she didn't change her story but maintained it. This tells me that if you stick to your truth, it doesn't matter what people are saying - what is important is to be patient and remain true to yourself,"
Masasa also told the publication that working with the former Generations star Dumisane Mbebe on Mzali Wami was a great experience.
"Dumisani is a great actor, very funny and also kind. He's very complex and compassionate. I recognize that passion within myself as well and I guess that's why we got along so well on set. I could give him advice and he would do the same for me too. the publication quoted Masasa.
