The internet is a magical place with endless avenues for research and creativity. But perhaps the most underrated genius to be invented in recent times is memes.

They have fast become a whole language on their own, and can usually communicate in a few seconds what would have taken minutes to elaborate. And knowing that nothing that goes on the internet ever really dies, we have to be careful with everything we put online, as a simple photo with an interesting facial expression could quickly turn into a meme โ and those live forever.
Here are some ZAlebs who have been turned into memes.
Somizi Mhlongo
Somizi Mhlongo was born to be an actor. If you doubt it, just google โSomizi memeโ and see how many legendary facial expressions he provides us with, at least once a month. In fact, we can even go as far as to declare him the king of memes in Mzansi, because many of his funny photos and videos are super meme-worthy.
Since there are so many of them, we will choose just three of our favourites.
- There's the picture of him bathing with soap all over his face; a classic.
- Then there's this one of him looking sassy and fabulous that made it to American Twitter.
- And there's this one of him on stage and looking like he'd rather be anywhere but here.
Remember, those are just three, and not even from this year. And we know for sure Somgaga will continue to bless us with meme faces.

Mohale Motaung
While we are on the subject of Somizi, his estranged husband Mohale Motaung has also been turned into a meme. His is especially hilarious because the most viral meme with his face was taken from footage of their lavish wedding, which aired on TV. He was overcome with emotion looking at his lover, so I guess the marriage ended just as it started โ in tears.
As soon as the radio personality posted the pictures from the big day (of both himself and Somizi tearing up) on Twitter, one tweep warned him that they would be turned into memes. He was not wrong.
Of course, there are those who are savage enough to post him side by side with Somizi, with photos from the same ceremony.

Slik Talk
Does he count as a celebrity if he became famous for hating on celebs, then fizzled out and disappeared from the spotlight? Well, it probably does because of how big a wave he made, seeing as he has become a household name.
Either way, YouTuber Slik Talk had to be on this list because he really blessed us with some great meme content. Now, violence is not something we would usually condone, and it is never okay to make fun of people who have been abused.
However, Slik Talk willingly walked into a boxing ring with Cassper Nyovest, who proceeded to moer him completely. Pictures of him all tired and beat up immediately went viral, and as you can guess, they were turned into memes which even crossed borders. Social media is quite a force to reckon with!
Mihlali Ndamase
Representing the ladies is beauty influencer and YouTube sensation Mihlali Ndamase. The best thing about being a YouTube content creator is that you usually put out all the meme-worthy photos yourself. The bad part is that they will surely have a life of their own once theyโre out there, and you canโt control what they are turned into. Which is basically what has happened to Mihlali.
The next one has to be the best one, though. It is just so versatile, and the exaggerated surprise would really drive the point home in the best way possible. This is your cue to go and make a meme from this one.
The best part? It looks like the facial expressions run in the family, as her mother has given us a legendary meme too.
Lasizwe Dambuza
As a comedian, Lasizwe Dambuzaโs whole life is basically a meme. And I suppose at some point, it gets pointless to fight it, so Lasizwe is a great sport about his memes. In fact, he either makes some himself, or encourages his fans to do so from his pictures and videos.
The deal gets even sweeter. As he is close friends with Mihlali, the two of them often hang out, giving us enough memes for months, from just one afternoon together. Have a look at these ones.
We love to see our celebrities providing us with some humour, as long as itโs all in good fun and doesnโt go too far. It helps humanise them, but most importantly, the memes are really funny. And we love to see it when they join in on the fun, showing that they donโt take themselves too seriously.
