Meet Namhla Mpondo

There was a bit of a frenzy after the 2017 Durban July weekend when a fan posted a photo of herself alongside the Mseleku wives.  Social media users began questioning who she was, with most jumping to the conclusion that she is the fifth Mseleku wife, but that is not the case...

A keen-eyed Instagram fan by the named of @mpumee_coated alerted us to the existence of Namhla's profile so we reached out to her to hear her side of the story.

"Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this story," began Namhla.

"My name is Thandiswa Namhla Mpondo, I'm a 28 year old business woman from Joburg (property based) and I'm happily married to a politician," she added. So there you have it, Musa is definitely not her husband.

She then explained how the photo in question came about.

"I was with my husband at the Durban July, we happened to bump into the Mseleku's at our arrival, and I was just excited to see them and asked to take a picture with the wives. I posted the pic on Instagram and woke up the next day trending on social media."

Musa has also denied the existence of a fifth wife following the furore in an interview with TshisaLIVE

“Everyone wanted a piece of us when we arrived at the Durban July. That lady just wanted a picture with my wives. We don’t even know her or her name. My wives said people were talking about her being my fifth wife and I told them to sort it out because they were the ones who took the picture with her‚” said Mseleku.

Namhla's Instagram account is great though! So even without her status as a Mseleku wife, we're going to enjoy following her.
