Award-winning gospel artist Nqubeko Mbatha, has finally released his much-anticipated single titled Friendship with Jesus.

The single is just a glimpse of what Nqubeko has in store for his listeners and it reminds people of how amazing it is to be fully acquainted with the Lord and to always trust in him as he is a true friend.

Nqubeko said the song talks about the relationship he has with Jesus, as he expresses how constant he is in his life in good and bad times.

"I have seen Jesus being faithful in my life, in his work so I have found his work to be a source of strength with me it comforts my heart to know that Jesus is with me when I read his word, knowing that he will be with me throughout everything makes me happy"

The gospel star said his album titled Devotion, is coming out on the 24th of July. Speaking about it he said, "The album has a lot of songs which includes songs of praise and worship, there are songs that have words of encouragement, there are songs that will prompt you to pray, and there are songs of joy, so people will definitely enjoy it ."

Nqubeko said the pandemic of Covid-19, has been a confusing period for everyone, but he is in a good space with his family. "I'm in a good space with my family, and I thank God for that, but I must say it has not been easy, this is a very confusing time for all of us. This has never happened before and we do not even know what is going to happen in the future. I remember when the lockdown started we thought it was going to be for a few weeks and now we are over 2 months in lockdown. As people who pray a lot with my family, we check up on each other and encourage each other to stay safe and pray and to lend a helping hand to the needy"

Nqubeko said he started working on his album last year, but he could not finish it. The gospel star said he is glad that he was able to finish during the lockdown period because, he spent most of his time traveling to shows before it.

"I started working on this album last year, but I could not finish it because I was busy, but Covid-19 has been a time where I was forced to finish it because I had more time. The difficult part is that we are not able to travel, so artists cannot meet with each other in the studio to record together, but thanks God we have technology because we are able to send each other vocals and we put the album together."

On this album, he said he collaborated with Mnqobi Nxumalo, and his wife Ntokozo Mbambo, who also wrote numerous songs for his album. Nqubeko said the biggest challenge he encountered whilst working on his album was keeping up with the standard of his previous great work. He said it is not easy to produce a good album always, because fans demand fresh and great songs every time which is difficult.

The gospel star has encouraged people to be open to change as a lot of things will change during this pandemic. "Things will change but my message to all is that let us be open to change, if you have to start a business then do it. There are opportunities that will come your way not everything is bad, sometimes it gets darker before the dawn."

Nqubeko who has been married to award-winning gospel star Ntokozo Mbambo for over 10 years now, have become one of Mzansi's favorite couples in the gospel industry, who conquers through everything. Nqubeko said they manage to remain tight-knit by becoming a team throughout everything they do, "We have learned to separate work with household things. When I am supposed to be a husband to Ntokozo, I have to be a husband, and when I am supposed to be a father to my daughters I am. So we are stronger together, we have realized that we are a great team together as opposed to competing with each other and build our family," he said.
