Michael Bay’s latest TV offering, ‘Black Sails’, is being shot in Cape Town and the series stars local actor Sean Cameron Michael alongside a host of Hollywood stars.

Michael started his career as presenter on ‘Teleschool’ and then as Brett, a drug dealer in the soapie, ‘Egoli: Place of Gold'.

The 43-year-old actor worked with the likes of Kiefer Sutherland in the TV series ‘24’, Jon Voight in ‘Redemption’ as well as with Denzel Washington in ‘Safe House’.

He plays Richard Guthrie, antagonist to the main character Captain Flint in the highly anticipated, upcoming pirate drama.

“Loosely based on Treasure Island, Captain Flint’s path and mine cross every now and again.” He says.

He explains working with Michael Bay, who is best know for directing films like 'Armageddon', 'Pearl Harbor' and the 'Transformers' series, is a dream come true.

“Working on a Michael Bay production is certainly every actor’s dream. For me, it was the first time I was working in a production where every single person – from the cast, crew, make-up, costume to set design, and so on – were out to do their best work. My wigs were brought over from London. It is done in a very authentic way. The level of standards went through the roof.” He tells IOL.

“I did get to chat with Michael. As the producer, he oversees every facet of the production so that when audiences watch the series – it has his stamp all over it.” He adds.
