This past weekend, Shauwn was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Good Shepherd College of Religion and Training in recognition of her changing lives philanthropic endeavours. Several hours before she was honored, the businesswoman teased the announcement. She posted a photo of herself with her sister Nozipho Ngubo and captioned it:
"Rise and Shine Darlings This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Today is a big day and I couldn’t think of anyone better to have by my side other than my dear sister @nozipho_ngubo. First stop is HOME, because when something big is about to happen, you go home first. After today, a couple of things are gonna change…stay tuned, wrote MamKhize.
She posted a picture of herself and her sister wearing graduation gowns at the graduation ceremony to announce her honorary title. MaMkhize penned a heartfelt message to her late parents.
"Dear Mama and Papa. Here we are…your daughters are both doctors. I hope you and dad are watching over this moment and you are beyond proud. Thank you Lord for this day and thank you to oKhabazela ka Mavovo kayihlandla. It’s moments like this that I cherish from the bottom of my heart , being celebrated and acknowledged whilst I’m still alive. It’s official you can now address me as Dr President Shauwn Mkhize," she wrote.
The businesswoman also hosted a celebration party that was attended by her family, close friends and industry colleagues. MaMkhize has joined the likes of Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Rebecca Malope, Winnie Mashaba and Noxolo Grootboom who have been bestowed with honorary doctorates.
The businesswoman has a number of degrees under her belt, and it's a pleasure to see her consistently succeed. She was honored for her contributions to community development and sports at the Heroines Awards about a month ago.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the award she said, "What an epic evening room full of powerful women. A big thank you to the Heroines Awards for bestowing such a great honour on me for my contribution to community development and sports. I am humbled by this award and more so for celebrating me whilst I’m still alive," she wrote.
Furthermore, she noted that she learned some important life lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic. "One thing we’ve all learnt from this pandemic is that life is too short and it’s important to celebrate every moment big or small"
At the awards ceremony, she said she had the time of her life. "I had such a fabulous time last night, it was great being in the company of other brown skin QUEENS looking to make a difference in the world. The journey to get here has not been easy but moments like last night sure make it worth it. I’m truly humbled," she wrote.
