During the competition she also won the Miss World Beauty With A Purpose contest, which is one of the reasons why she is in the top 40!
Shudu remains true to her quest at prioritising mental health and she plans to start a movement.
Other African contestants securing their place in the Top 40 include Botswana, Kenya, Cameroon and Cote D’IVoire.
"Congratulations to our Top 40 who are invited to return to San Juan, Puerto Rico on March 12th to continue their quest to be crowned the 70th Miss World!" said the pageant on their website page.
Shudu also expressed gratitude for making it this far in the competition. She penned a sweet note which reads, "I am so humbled to announce that I have made it to the @missworld Top 40. Going into this my biggest driver was beauty with a purpose and to have my project chosen as one of the winners is such an honour, but to have met the human embodiments of beauty with a purpose in the other contestants just made the journey that much more fulfilling.
"So to my fellow Miss World sisters thank you for sharing your hearts with me and the world. To my beautiful South Africa, Ndo livhuwa, it takes a village and it is our stories and your support that have led me to this point. To my Miss World family, thank you. I am so excited to be returning to Puerto Rico in March," she said.
Shudu has always expressed excitement at being Miss South Africa, and said the one thing she loves the most about the competition, is the sisterhood.
“My favourite moment of the Miss South Africa journey had to be the relationships I made. I think we underestimate the beauty of how we are relational beings, so the final stage was my favourite because I gained sisters, best friends and had the time of my life. The love between us and the Miss SA family is beautiful and to build us as well."
"The person I entered when I was Miss SA is not the person I am now. I have more goals that are aligned with not only my empowerment but also the empowerment of all women.”
Shudu is also a published author who released her book Shudu Finds her Magic.
“Here are some moments in your life which you dream about but then to see it in real life, something tangible, something to hold. Now, that is something! I am filled with so much pride and joy to present this book authored by myself.
"A piece of my heart captured on a page, written especially for kids. A story of struggles and hope. Of falling down and getting back up and of the incredible journey we call life! I hope that through my story you will find comfort in the fact that you are not alone, that you matter, that the world needs you! None of us are perfect, we were never meant to be and that’s what makes us so special."
