The Miss World Organization recently announced that they would be postponing the global broadcast finale ceremony. The announcement came just hours before Friday 17th December, when the event was scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico.
According to the event organizers, the measures have been taken to protect the contestants and staff. Other sources had reported that multiple contestants had tested positive for Covid-19, which makes the announcement a timely one.
The organization intends to reschedule the event to take place within the next 90 days in Puerto Rico, but ultimately it will all depend on how the pandemic progresses and how those infected fare on.

While no doubt the postponement was a bummer for our Shudu, she has a reason to smile nonetheless. The beauty queen won in the category Beauty With A Purpose. This category represents the charity wing of the organization, whose goal is to aid the contestants raise funds for causes of their choice that they are passionate about.
She shared the position with five contestants, representing India, Kenya, the United States, England and the Philippines. All of them were automatically declared winners of that category, and will be proceeding to the semifinals.
Shudu has been mobilizing all of Mzansi to vote for her to win in the upcoming finale. She begged for South Africans to vote for her in a video she posted to her social media accounts, in order to win the prestigious title.
“South Africa, stand up. South Africa, it’s time for us to vote and go get them. I just wanted to say thank you so much for the support that I’ve been receiving on socials throughout my reign and throughout this new journey at Miss World," she said.
“But it is time for us to vote. It is time for us to stand up and do our best. So, I need you guys to vote, please.”
“Please download MobStar and when you get there, look for Shudu Musida and then like all my pictures because one like equals one vote. Second of all, I need you to like the Miss World South Africa page,” the beauty queen implored.
Although voting closed ahead of the initial date for the finale, things are looking good for Shudu. Many people took up the call to vote, and other celebrities like Makhadzi have also used their platforms to campaign for her.
Her early win is a good sign for the beauty queen, and as a country, we will be keeping our fingers crossed for her. She has all our support, and we are ready for her to bring home that crown!
