ETV's soap-drama Imbewu: The Seed is the latest local soap-drama to halt production after a cast member tested positive for Covid19.

It was reported this afternoon by entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela that a positive case has been confirmed on the set of Imbewu: The Seed.

"Etv has just confirmed that someone on the set of the soapie has tested positive for Covid19. Production on the KZN location has been shut down. Testing for exposed cast and crew members is underway." Mphela broke the news through his Twitter account.

At the rate that the virus is spreading right now, maybe it's best that all television productions come to hold until the virus is under control.

The telenovela joins The River, Skeem Saam, Muvhango and Rythm City as shows that had to put production on hold after cast and crew members tested positive for the coronavirus.

It's been a rough last couple of days for the drama as they are still mourning the death of actor Jovan Muthray. He portrayed the character of Nilesh on the soapie.

About Imbewu: The Seed is an ETV original drama series created by Duma Ndlovu and executive producers Anant Singh and Leleti Khumalo. It first aired in 2018.
