What do you do when you reach your goal earlier than expected? Well, if you're Thabo 'Tbo Touch' Molefe, you scale up and move on and that is just what he plans to do when he takes his online radio station, Touch HD to Nigeria later this year.
Molefe had reportedly set the 1 million goal for March 2018 but one of this country’s largest audio content aggregators, Iono.fm, confirmed the news to them last November.
“We reached a million around 7pm. To us this is quite thrilling because data is still expensive in the country and to compete with normal radio stations you have to give something extra" said Molefe in an interview with City Press.
In addition to opening a Lagos, Nigeria branch, there will also reportedly be a few on air line-up changes which effect from 1 February 2018 according to a report by The Juice.
Molefe also reportedly confirmed to the publication that TouchHD will be launching in Nigeria end of January 2018.
They will be kicking off their launch with a show hosted by Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy. The musician, and entrepreneur also had own own reality show on FOX Africa sometime last year.
Molefe will head to Nigeria next week for an executive meeting with Roc Nation and Templ Music to officially welcome the DJ to the Touch HD family in addition to planning other projects for 2018. Cuppy joins recent Touch HD additions such as Ntando Duma, Carpo, Lasizwe and Lalla Hirayama.
