The former Uzalo actor, who played the character of Vikizitha Magwaza, was apparently wandering around naked in the hospital according to Isolezwe. His mother Nomasonto Mthembu, shared an update on his health with Daily Sun and opened up about his depression.

According to the publication, Siyabonga moved back to his family home in Ntuzuma, south of Durban, and was seen talking to himself several times while wandering around the township.

"He was seen walking down the street wearing a gown and holding a cup of tea. He was not walking a short distance with that cup and gown. We suspect that something has disturbed his mind as he is a person who often seems to have a lot on his mind," said the source.

Siyabonga's mother told the publication that he is recovering well, but there is still a long way to go. According to the 69-year-old, the industry ruined his child's future, but he won't give up because he loves it so much.

"He is here with those who love him unconditionally. We are taking care of him. Although he is getting there it'll be such a long way.

My son's depression had reached a dangerous stage. The entertainment industry ruined him. It messed up his future but he won't leave it because that's where his passion is.

"He wants to be alone most of the time. I know he won't kill himself, he never talked about it or attempted to do it, but we can't take chances. We are making sure we are not allowing him to be alone

Siyabonga is set to star in the upcoming film Taxi bosses, which will be released in February. He worked on the film prior to his illness.

"I am feeling much better, but when I am fully recovered I will have the courage to speak out

"A lot has happened but wait for me to fully recover, then I will speak. For now, I am focusing on getting better, that's all I can say," he told Daily Sun.

Siyabonga is not the only star to suffer from mental health. Award-winning musician Samthing Soweto opened up about his struggle with depression in 2022

Taking to social media, he tweeted "I'm sorry for the silences. I thought I was wack, but today, I only discovered how dope I am. #depression".

Several celebs including Black Coffee and Dumi Mkokstad showed love to him.
