Thuso Mbedu might have made her international acting debut in 2021 with Barry Jenkins’ The Underground Railroad, but in the two years and counting since, she is slowly affirming herself as a Hollywood A-lister. First, it was her getting her debut international film role with the acclaimed The Woman King.

However, while her next acting project has yet to be announced, it does seem that she is slowly solidifying herself as an international star. More so when considering the Hollywood A-listers that she is rubbing shoulders with. All the while continuing to fuel dating rumours with “bestie” Jonathan Majors.

This past weekend was the official Oscars weekend where all the A-listers in Hollywood gathered to celebrate the actors who made an impact in the past year on highly acclaimed films. One of the most sought-after tickets, especially for black Hollywood stars, is that of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party.

While Trevor Noah has been a regular name on the guest list, it seems that this time he could enjoy the party with another South African export which was none other than Thuso Mbedu as the two were photographed together at the exclusive invite-only party.

Moreover, during the party, Thuso was able to take part in one of the most iconic photographs to come out of the current circuit. This is as Thuso was part of the mega-photo which included the biggest African Americans and Africans to have an impact on Hollywood today.

This included the likes of Ciara, Quinta Bronson, Queen Latifah, Halle and Chloe Bailey, Michael B. Jordan, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and a number of other impactful musicians, actors, and tastemakers in African American culture.

However, for those that follow the star, what caught their attention is the closeness that still exists between Thuso and her long-time “acting crush” turned “bestie” Jonathan Majors. The two’s chemistry has been a site of speculation for months now.

A fact, which made their interactions during the Oscar weekend all the more interesting. This is as fans of both actors believe that there might be more to the story of their “friendship” than meets the eye. This is as there were more than a few adorable moments captured between them.

As a result, there have been fans that are suggesting that the two must just date or come and state the real status of their relationship. This is because Thuso has denied any romantic affiliations to the Creed lll star in the past. As reported at the time:

The most recent romantic affiliation she is speculated to have is with American actor Jonathan Majors. Mbedu was one of the first people to publicly showcase their “support and love” for Majors, as he was the lead of the first all-black Western film executive produced by Jay-Z called The Harder They Fall.

In what is a full-circle moment, Mbedu revealed that she is now friends with Majors. But the images shared of this friendship led many to believe that maybe, just maybe, there might be more than meets the eye.

But Mbedu, who loves Twitter and engaging on the blue app, addressed the matter suggesting that she and Majors were just “besties” and the bashful face she was giving was due to a platonic compliment Majors gave her.
