In a post on Instagram, Mome made it clear that she supports her husband. Mome explained that their silence is not an admission of guilt but “choice to respect the law.”
In a statement, model and actress Lerato Moloi said:
"In 2014, I was sexually assaulted and raped by Mongezi 'Tol Ass Mo' Mahlangu while working on a television production in Paarl, Western Cape. For numerous reasons, I did not open a case at the time and only shared this experience with one of the other participants on the show.”
“We do take ourselves too seriously, so with this show it’s good to see that we can take the chance to lighten up. Let’s just have fun, prank each other and make the country laugh because everyone is so serious and everyone has become so used to that random old school, dull, boring black faced paintings of Leon Schuster pranks. So, it’s about time we show what the real modern South African is like, we’re fun, more energetic and active, that’s who we are," he said.
"So, I do need my wife all the time before I come to a joint, I talk to her and I ask her if she's sure if I can do this thing and she calms me down and informs me that I can do it and that I've been doing this for a long time. So, when I get that validation and encouragement from her, I feel ok, I feel like I can go in and do it, not everyone has got that natural confidence. Sometimes you need that person who's going to be there and activate it for you and she's my confidence activator."
