Why “The Bala Family” Is Giving Reality TV

The show is now compared to “The Braxton Family Values”

When Mzansi Magic shared that they were set to premiere a reality television show focussing on the Bala Family which was aptly titled The Bala Family, it was met with mixed emotions. This could be attributed to the fact that most celebrity-based reality shows in South Africa have a tendency to give bland.

However, two episodes into the reality show and it has quickly changed the perception of most viewers as the show has quickly risen into the trends list on social media. 

Why The Bala Family is giving reality TV

On Thursday, 27 April 2023, the second episode of The Bala Family season one aired. Given the hints from the premiere episode, this episode certainly did not disappoint the viewers. 

As such, it seems that for the first time, the public finally got to see that all was not as initially portrayed when it comes to the Bala family. The reality show is slowly revealing the cracks that fame created within their family.
Whether it is the divide between the older siblings, Pinky and Zwai, and the younger siblings, Loyiso and Phelo. Or the struggle for control as to who is the leader of the family between Pinky and Zwai, and Phelo recently following him accepting his calling. 

Moreover, the matter of the matriarch, Veronica, and her constant pursuit of love and marriage. This is as the show has revealed that Mrs. Jafta has a thing for finding love and getting married as soon as possible. This is despite how her children might feel about her partners.
As such seeing the Bala family give so much of themselves for their reality television has resulted in the public supporting the reality show. So much so that it seems that the family is already being compared to the Braxton family and their own reality show Braxton Family Values.
Seeing the show climb up the ranks has led to the belief that The Bala Family is steadily on an incline in terms of more viewers tuning in for the upcoming third episode, which is set to mark the continuation of the family and the counselling session. Moreover, it seems that Pinky is finally going to have a one-on-one with her sister-in-law Jen.
