Uzalo's Not Getting The Chop!

The SABC has denied rumours of pulling the plug on Uzalo.

SA's most watched soapie, Uzalo has often been thrown with all sorts rumours. For the longest time there were rumours of the cast and crew members not being paid, which came as a result of the financial crisis that the SABC was facing at the time.

This time around, the production is faced with yet another itchy rumour - the cancellation of the show on SABC.

According to TshisaLIVE, Uzalo's contract on SABC 1 allegedly ended in October 2019; which has created confusion amongst the Stained Glass team working on soapie.

The publication also established that the cast did not wish to comment on the matter because they are still contracted by the production company that produces Uzalo.

Upon contact with SABC's acting spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu, TshisaLIVE established the following:

“The SABC can confirm that there is no truth to these rumours. Although the SABC is not at liberty to discuss its contractual obligations with third parties, the organisation can confirm that Uzalo will continue to be broadcast on SABC1."

Uzalo seems to be going through some big changes with regards to its on-screen talent. Sphelele Mzimela and Thobani Dhlomo recently joined the award-winning soapie. Their respective fans were thrilled to learn of their latest moves hence they had grown familiar with their previous roles on other shows.
