In a report from City Press, close sources allege that Abdul Khoza has left the show. Productions for season 3 of the drama series have already begun but it seems as though Abdul will not be a part of it.
When contacted for comment, the production company Stained Glass denied these Rumours and they told the publication that Abdul has not been replaced on the series.
“Abdul Khoza has not been replaced in season three of The Wife. We don’t want to share any spoilers, so fans will have to wait and see what unfolds when The Wife returns in November.”
In a cryptic and since-deleted Instagram post, Abdul Khoza hinted that he would exit the show but did not give reasons.
"It's been an amazing journey with you all on #TheWifeShowmax. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for embracing me to the fullest. I shall miss you all and wish you a greater journey ahead. You have inspired my career with this amazing show, ngiyabonga mina uNqobizitha Zulu lo, sengihembe. Heee heee!!." he announced.
He later bit his tongue and sent out another post. Placing the blame on their on-screen rivals, The Majola Brothers, he said they are the ones who ran to the media and lied on his name.
“I’m sure this is the Majolas who ran to media. But now that I have your attention! Uthi uMa ka Ndumiso ninga bona amabele enyokha. Wemame.Ngithi asibonge isupport yenu on this S2 of #TheWifeShowmax. Rumours Of several The Wife actors leaving shocked viewers who called for the series to just end.
Phil Mphela first alleged that Mondli Makhoba who plays Nkosana Zulu AKA Bhuti Omdala, his wife Zandile Zulu played by Khanyi Mbau and Mandisa played by Zikhona Sodlaka, Nqoba Zulu's baby mama, are all leaving and will not be part of season 3.
He further alleged that Mbalenhle Mavimbela who played Mahlomu would also be leaving but her character would be recast.
All of this were said to be false Rumours but what isn't a false rumor is Mqhele's recast.
Bonko Khoza who played Mqhele Zulu left and was replaced by Wiseman Mncube.
“Having had the privilege to play Mqhele Zulu for two seasons, I realize I’ve taken the character as far as I can,” said Bonko. “I’m part of finding the perfect replacement and will be watching from the sidelines to support and offer advice where needed. I know that the actor who takes over will build from where I left off, so I’m looking forward to joining the 5 am club to see how the incredible love stories between the brothers and their wives play out this season. It’s not often that a show this powerful comes into the world, so we should continue to champion and encourage the talented people who will take us forward in S3.”
Wiseman even thanked fans for receiving the news well. “I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the people who have welcomed me after the announcement that I will be joining The Wife, where I will be taking over from Bonko Khoza where he left off, who played the role Mqhele. Thank you very much for the love and support that I have received...I'll do my best to entertain you guys, One love.”
