South Africa musician, AKA, has joined in the social media protest action which is attempting to shed light on the injustices taking place throughout Africa. In a Twitter tirade shared on Wednesday, 21 October 2020, AKA went off at the African Union, all African leaders, and specifically President Cyril Ramaphosa. He began by referencing the violence taking place in Nigeria presently, stating, “How can a government have no regard for the life of its citizens. How can people shoot to KILL their own countrymen and women? This is insane. We are living in an insane time in human history. The African Union is a joke. What’s worse, is that Cyril Ramaphosa is its President.”
He then went on to share his opinion on the leaders of the African Union, accusing them of being incapable of calling out one another for their poor leadership of their respective countries. “AFRICAN LEADERS ABSOLUTELY SUCK AT CALLING OUT OTHER AFRICAN LEADERS BECAUSE ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY.”, he said.
AKA pointed out the ages of some of the leaders, acknowledging the stark difference between them and the people of their countries. He spoke about the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is 77 years old and how he has been re-elected for his second term, whilst being elderly. A follower then made him aware that President Cyril Ramaphosa is 67 years, which appeared to further prove his point.
He went on to tweet, “Here is the problem with twitter, you say you like mangoes and some idiot goes off on you because that means you must have something against grapes. 60% of Africa’s population is under 25 years old. The average age of its 10 oldest leaders is 78. The real reason they don’t give a shit about our futures is because they won’t be around to see it.”
AKA concluded by once again stating that he planned on running for presidency in the year 2024, and called upon the Megacy to vote for him, now dubbing it, “The Surprise Party”. The rapper has sparked conversation about him running for Presidency for a while now, and although there may not be any truth to it, AKA4President has topped the Twitter trends list on multiple occasions.
