Last year Ayanda said, "I have a few projects in the pipeline through Avad Media, my media company with partners Nobuntu Webster. We are heavily focused on African content for our children, and adults, both production and publishing. "

Nqobile is created and produced by Ayanda Borotho, Adze Ugah and Nobuntu Webster, Nqobile is captured against the luxurious aesthetic of Leondale streets and is juxtaposed with less opulent environments where hustling is a way of life.

The production company has bagged some industry greats to star on the show which include Nqobile Khumalo who stars as Nqobile while Kagiso Modupe plays the role of her husband Simo, Magic Hlatshwayo (as George), Nomsa Nene (as Sarah), Lele Ledwaba (as Mampoi), Lilian Dube (as Black Widow), Abdul Khoza (as Gugu), Nhlanhla Mdlalose (as Sbambura) and Ayanda Bandla (as Ntombi).

Describing the show, Mzansi Magic said, "Nqobile is the ill-treated makoti of the Nkosi family dynasty who manages to outsmart her entitled, abusive husband and take over his empire. She transforms it into a women-led e-hailing service, and with newfound grit, indirectly declares war against her spouse."

Nomsa Philiso, the Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net said the fact that this riveting series mirrors real-life and real-time scenarios such as the battle between e-hailing services and traditional meter taxis while also exploring issues such as gender-based violence, shows synchrony between Mzansi Magic content and relevant, real-life events.

As Nqobile is thrust into a male-dominated industry and a new position of power, the show reveals everything she must do to negotiate her freedom, maintain respect and thrive.

This is Ayanda's second offering under her production company. The production company will be showing a short animated film, Shaka Inkosi Yamakhosi at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) on the 23rd of this month.

The animation features Themba Ntuli, Lilian Dube, Mondli Makhoba, Ayanda Borotho, Thulani Stukie Mtsweni, Dawn Thandeka King, Motlatsi Mafatshe, Nhlanhla Mdlalose, Nomsa Xaba, Mbuso Khoza, Melusi Mbhele and Buzetsheni Mdletshe voicing different characters.

Ayanda said she decided to do an animation about King Shaka Zulu because there are many films that are based on Shaka story but most of these films don't give kids a clear full understanding of the history. "We have decided to create an animated film that would attract the little ones. The film is edited in isiZulu language, usual famous Zulu songs and rhythms are also used," Ayanda explained.

Ayanda's production company is definitely coming out with stories that matter to the community. We have another Shonda Rhimes on our hands in South Africa and we cannot wait to see what else the company has in store for us.

Catch Nqobile at 20:00 every Monday for the premiere of the 13 part instalment. Don't forget to use the hashtag #NqobileMzansi on social media.
