Zimoja reports that Babes and her family, have lost her uncle Mduduzi Masikane, who had just undergone heart surgery. Nondumiso Simelane, Babes' sister, told the blog that the surgery was a success and that they did not expect to hear the news of his passing.

“uMalume was fine yazi. He passed on at home (Pinetown). We thought after the heart operation he would be okay,” the publication quoted Nondumiso.

Nonduh added that she feels as though there might be a dark cloud hovering over her family, “It’s almost like a dark cloud is hanging over our family.”

Babes has been making headlines for missing out on a few gigs. A few establishments put her on blast for missing on gigs even after being paid. Estradini Lifestyle issued a statement to their patrons apologising for Babes not pitching. Then there was Ora Lifestyle in Pietermaritzburg who told Zimoja that booking Babes Wodumo is risky business. Lastly,  Second Half Bar and Restaurant in Nquthu also ousted Babes.

Defending her sister, Nondumiso said Babes is still going through a lot and has lost people close to her. “People think that Babes is not pitching for events because she is problematic, but everything has just become too much, and she needs time out. We closed the year off badly and we are starting out badly. We hope things will change,” she told the blog.

She then pleaded with people to be patient, “We ask that people be patient and give her time. We are all mourning. She will be taking bookings again next week.”

Nondumiso has always had Babes' back even when trolls came for her. She even defended her when trolls came for her for returning back to stage a day after burying Mampintsha. “Babes is okay. Everyday is different, some days she cries and some days she is okay. But we are giving her space," she said addressing the concerns risen after Babes Wodumo was crying on stage.

Nonduh added that Babes will go for therapy when she is ready, "She will go when she is ready...We are learning to adjust but we will not push Babes to mourn in a way that we see fit.”

Babes was even criticised by the late Zama who said, “I am not a very traditional person myself, and I understand people heal differently and deal with grief in their own way, but this is not right. This is painful to watch. She is disrespecting my son in a way" said Zamanguni Gumede

“Why are they [Babes' parents] not saying anything? It has not even been a month. I wouldn’t be shocked If she were to start dating someone. After everything, I am very disappointed. I just want her and me to talk and for us to find a way forward.” ended Zamanguni Gumede.
