The court case of radio and TV personality Sibusiso Leope, who was arrested for speeding over the weekend, was postponed on Monday.
According to EyeWitness News, Leope, who is better known as Metro FM DJ Sbu, briefly appeared in the Hatfield Magistrates Court in Pretoria on Monday morning, where his lawyer’s request for a postponement to allow for further investigation was granted.
DJ Sbu was arrested on Friday, after he was caught driving 170km/h in a 120km/h zone.
This is Leope’s second offence for speeding. He received a suspended sentence and a R7 000 fine in 2007, after he was arrested for driving almost 260km/h in a 120km/h zone, in a sponsored car.
The DJ’s lawyer told EyeWitness news that his client will only comment once the trial is over.
Metro FM spokesperson Happy Ngidi, however, on Monday morning told eNCA that Leope regrets the incident.
She said: “He is very remorseful. He is very sorry. Sbu realises that this is an unfortunate and serious situation.”
Apart from this rather unfortunate incident DJ Sbu is undoubtedly making great strides not only in his career but as a mentor too. The Metro FM DJ is currently running a series of leadership seminars known as the “Sunday Circle” which focuses not only on conveying inspirational speeches but also taps into how individuals can better provide for themselves and their communities as aspiring entrepreneurs.
An official trial date for Leope has not been disclosed as yet.
