When her ex-lover and baby daddy AKA lost the love of his life, DJ Zinhle has always been dragged into it. Trolls said some of the meanest things to Zinhle who tried by all means to mind her own business. It got awkward during Anele's memorial service as AKA's tribute video mistakenly had a picture of Zinhle in the slide.

DJ Zinhle had never addressed this and even reserved her silence on social media. But, on the premier of her reality show, this became a topic of discussion and we finally got to know what DJ Zinhle felt about this.

Speaking to her best friend and Aunty to her two daughters, Nomuzi 'Moozlie' Mabhena, she got emotional when they discussed all the things social media users are saying about her, instead of paying tribute to the young woman who lost her life.

Her main concern was being involved in something she had nothing to do with but also sympathised with both Kiernan's and Anele's families. “This is something that is happening in Kiernan’s life but because Kiernan and I have a child together, it ends up affecting me. Kiernan has lost someone he loves and now people are making it about me,” said Zinhle.

Her best friend reckons that because they were an item and have a baby together, there is nothing AKA does that will not sway the spotlight to Zinhle.

“Kiernan can’t do anything without you being involved,” said the rapper, who tried to console Zinhle and also offer words of advise.

This conversation was had a few months back when Anele's death was still very new. Zinhle feels the attention is unnecessary because the families are going through worse, and her getting involved is tough, “In my view right now, there are people that are going through worse with the situation… but it’s just also a bit tough when the comments are so cruel,” she told Moozlie.

DJ Zinhle was pregnant at the time, so she was understandably heavy with emotions.

Speaking to the camera, Zinhle said, “The thing about my life is a lot of things happen on social media and they’ve got nothing to do with me most of the time.”

“They just end up affecting me in some way, and I’ve learned not to care about it but this is also an emotional time in my life as I am pregnant,” she continued.

DJ Zinhle also got dragged into Anele's case again after it got re-opened. The Western Cape police together with the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) had an inquest into her death. At first, AKA was investigated as a prime suspect, but the case later got seen as a suicide incident.

Anele Tembe lost her life on Sunday April 12 after allegedly falling off from the 10th floor of a hotel in Cape Town. According to various reports, she was apparently alive for 30 minutes before the ambulance declared her deceased.

It was reported by Sunday World that her phone, which had intricate information relating to her death, had been formatted. In the phone, were "bi**chy" comments made by Anele towards Zinhle on social media.

The third time Zinhle's name got mentioned regarding Anele's death was when AKA had his interview with Thembekile Mrototo. In the interview, which was meant to address the many speculations regarding the incident, AKA mentioned that investigating officers flew all the way to Zinhle's home to question her about the case. It could be that they wanted to find out from her if AKA was ever abusive towards her or not.

DJ Zinhle: Unexpected, airs every Saturday on BET Africa at 19h30.
