This past week, Twitter has been a mess. Primarily, it has to do with the matter of Elon Musk and the drama he created when he attempted to change the verification rules on Twitter. This is as he had initially announced that he would be taking away everyone’s blue checks if they did not agree to pay a monthly or annual fee.
In light of the announcement, there were ZAlebs that were adamant that they would not be paying the fee in question. As such, when Monday, 24 April 2023 came around, some notable ZAlebs were without their blue checks. However, as Elon seemingly revoked the conditions of the blue check for some ZAlebs.
There was the question as to what happened to the verification of some of our fave ZAlebs. While most of those that were not re-verified did not comment on the matter, Lasizwe Dambuza felt he needed to explain why he has yet to receive his blue check back.
Some of the tweets questioned why, unlike other notable ZAlebs, Elon did not return his blue check. Seemingly, instead of ignoring the post, Lasizwe felt it best to explain that there was a “delay.” This is as he credited the change in his profile picture as the reason.

When questioned why then he did not appear on the list of verified accounts, Lasizwe seemed to suggest that the verification was there. However, almost 24 hours later and still Lasizwe does not have his verification blue check besides his handle…
However, Lasizwe is not the only notable ZAlebs that has not received their blue check back despite many others having already received it. The list includes the likes of:
While Moonchild might be traversing the world in an effort to complete her upcoming studio album, it seems that Elon Musk has not found it fit for her to retain her blue check. Moreover, Moonchild cannot blame a change in her profile picture for the fact considering that she has had it for years.
Veteran actress and media personality, Rami Chuene was part of the legends who had a blue check next to their handle for years. However, Elon Musk removed it and has not bothered to return the blue check to her name.
