Its been a week since the talented Gqom star Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo AKA Shimora, was laid to rest. A few days later, reports suggested that his mother Zama Gumede was also hit with a stroke and was hospitalised. Their family pleaded with the public to assist with medical bills, as they could not afford to pay for her hospital stay at the Wentworth government hospital in Durban.

Zama Gumede's health took quiet a knock after the death of her son, Shimora, who also supported them financially. The state assisted them with R320 000 to host the funeral of the Ngeke hitmaker. However, another financial burden has struck the family.
Speaking to Zimoja Pinky Gumede, Mampintsha's sister, said their mother still asks for him and she had to lie and say he is at the airport. This is allegedly because her health is not in the best state
“Even now she is still asking for Mandla and I’ve had to tell her that he is at the airport,” the publication quoted Pinky. “She needs a private hospital and a psychologist to help her deal with the trauma, so she can move on. At the moment we do not have money to give her special health care and we are. appealing for help,” she continued.
They even had to assist her with walking, “We had to help her to walk. But now she is worse. The doctor says her liver has been affected and she also has been diagnosed with a stroke. But her stroke is not bad, she will not be disabled If she takes her medication. She has not been able to eat properly and that is affecting how she takes her medication.”

Although she and her daughter-in-law made amends at his funeral service held at the Durban ICC, Zama Gumede will not bite her tongue in expressing her disapproval of Babes' actions. Babes has been criticised by many for the manner in which she handled herself during the memorial service and funeral service. They also criticised her for the manner in which is handling her late husband's side chicks.
Zama Gumede said Babes is disrespecting her son, "One; no offence, I love Babes, she and I reunited and made peace at the funeral, but this is not how things are done" said Zamanguni Gumede to Zimoja.
“Firstly, she is not at home, she is gallivanting in the streets, drinking and partying. Two, she is not wearing traditional mourning clothes. The daughter of a pastor is not following the rules. She is doing things her own way" added Zamanguni Gumede
“I am not a very traditional person myself, and I understand people heal differently and deal with grief in their own way, but this is not right. This is painful to watch. She is disrespecting my son in a way" said Zamanguni Gumede
