However, through a strategic tactic delay, she seemed to avoid her much anticipated time on the stand. As reported at the time:
On Monday, 15 May 2023, the Senzo Meyiwa trial commenced. The trial was set to hear testimony from a new witness from today until the rest of the week at least. As such, it was assumed that the person in question was none other than Zandie.
Hence the excitement to finally hear from one of the Khumalo sisters about what actually happened. However, that excitement quickly turned into frustration from the public as it was revealed that the witness in question requested that their testimony is not shared with the public.
While Zandie might have cited fear of the public’s backlash for not wanting her testimony recorded through visuals or audio, it seems that this was all a farce given her posts subsequent to the backlash she has received on social media.
“Naza nakwata bo” - Zandie Khumalo pokes fun at trial backlash
In light of Zandie’s identity being confirmed as the “public figure” who refuses to give her testimony while being recorded via visuals and audio during the Senzo Meyiwa trial. It seems that Zandie has a few choice words on Instagram for all her naysayers.
As such, she first posted herself outside of the courtroom with her lawyer to make it clear that she is the “special witness” in question.
Thereafter, she seemingly disabled the comments from her next post. This is as she would take jabs at all the backlash she was receiving on social media.
As such, her cheeky caption wrote in isiZulu but when translated to English reads:
“Since you have tried everything else, why do you not just poison me. Also, why are you all so angry (laughing emojis) because it is only going to get worse. I suggest you take screenshots.”
When the post was shared on Twitter, she continued to receive backlash as it seems that the public can concur that Zandie is not only making fun of the public but the judicial system with her recent antics during the trial.
