South African media personality, Pearl Thusi, has revealed that she had recently conducted an interview with the late Kwaito star, Mshoza, as part of the fourth season of her hit show, Behind The Story on BET Africa. Along with the rest of South Africa, Pearl was shocked to find out about Mshoza’s sudden passing, which happened today, 19 November 2020.
In an Instagram post sharing a teaser of the upcoming episode, Pearl is seen listening intently as Mshoza spoke about the moment she had learnt about best friend, Lebo Mathosa’s death. The clip heard her explaining that she struggled to come to terms with the death of her friend and that she often thought about ending her own life as she believed it would be better to be dead than live without her.
Mshoza stated, “I think that was the end of me the, when I remember myself as Umshoza. Between then and 2008 when she passed on, I lost myself I actually thought it was better dying than not to have her in my life.” The haunting sentiments ultimately ended up being what had happened, with many of her fans mentioning that her words eventually became true.
Pearl captioned the post with, “Rest in Power baby girl. Thank you for your beautiful energy, vulnerability & honesty. Thank you for the music. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to be share your story and celebrate you, Mshoza “bozza” , The Godmother. Siyohlala sikukhumbula.”
Early this morning Khanyi Mbau broke the news of her passing without revealing any further information. "REST IN PEACE MY LOVE. I am tired 2020," wrote Khanyi. The late Mshoza passed away in a Johannesburg hospital this morning, 19 November 2020. Earlier this year, Mshoza allegedly contracted the Coronavirus. It was then revealed in a statement obtained by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, that the Kortez hitmaker passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning.
Sunday World Journalist, Nokuthula Zwane then tweeted that the star had been diagnosed with diabetes, according to a friend of Mshoza's.
"According to a close friend, she had been rushed to hospital a few weeks ago but was later ‘discharged. Details of the cause of death is still unclear. The 37-year-old, mother of two had been ill and diagnosed with diabetes.”

Mzansi continues to mourn the loss of the legendary Kwaito star.
