Nobody likes to talk about that time of the month, let alone go shopping for it...

And that's exactly why superstar Sho Madjozi is addressing the stigma surrounding menstruation.

The Xitsonga rapper and poet has teamed up with Stayfree to develop a Facebook chatbot aimed at making conversations about periods pain-free.

In Sync with Sho Madjozi is available for free on Facebook's Messenger platform and provides educational information through audio clips and illustrations between the star herself and a qualified professional who discuss various topics about menstrual health.

The aim of the initiative - part of the brand's #OurMove campaign -  is to equip and empower women and young girls with the factual information they need to manage their periods, so that they can stay in school or go to work and achieve their goals in life.
Periods are perfectly normal!

The chatbot channel was launched alongside a tongue-in-cheek video of the Huku star shopping for sanitary products in what she dubs “The Loneliest Aisle”. In the video, Sho questions why periods are still a taboo topic and calls for a change in attitude towards this perfectly normal occurrence.

Sho Madjozi said of the initiative: “I hope this channel will open up a space where it’s not only acceptable but where it’s cool to discuss menstruation. I wish I knew more about menstruation when I started. There was shame around it and there was the idea that I should already know what to do about it.

"I had to learn the hard way through a lot of confusion and ruined underwear and it’s my hope for girls out there, that as they enter into this stage,  they are more prepared and more comfortable with their bodies because of the information that we’re putting out there with Stayfree."
