Mohale Motaung who’s media personality Somizi Mhlongo’s ex-husband trended earlier this week following the premiere of season 5 of Somgaga’s reality TV show Living The Dream on Showmax which started right at the peak of their divorce drama. Fans and viewers who’ve been following the couple throughout their divorce were suddenly swayed back to Somgaga’s side after supporting Mohale with the #IBelieveMohale hashtag earlier in the year when he alleged in an audio recording that Somizi was abusive and controlling during their relationship. Now, friends of Mohale have spoken up defending the influencer and urging people online to take their hands off Mohale.

The first episode of Living The Dream With Somizi was released on Wednesday, first streaming exclusively on South Africa's number one digital streaming platform Showmax and it hit the nerve for viewers and fans who were waiting to hear the presenter’s side of the story following his divorce with Mohale. The show and the former couple's names have been dominating the trends list throughout the week as fans weighed in on this.

In the first scene, Somizi is seen listening to the viral audio recording of Mohlale that was published sometime last year by City Press where the 26-year-old influencer is heard claiming that Somizi was abusive, and had bizarre sexual fantasies and fetishes. Somizi then follows through with a brief phone call to one of his best friends Vusi Nova to talk about this audio recording which he thought was going to upset him but didn’t.

He told Vusi that he expected everything Mohale said and that his intentions may not have been to ruin his name but to have a spin-off show or some content using his name. He further added that he thinks Mohlale might have been offered money or a show and he knew that without Somizi’s name, there wouldn’t be any storyline or content for whatever show he would take on.

Some of Mohale’s friends and supporters also weighed in on social media to defend the businessman from trolls and fans of Somizi who have since been calling him a gold digger and a liar whose intentions are to ruin the media mogul’s career.

Mohale’s friend named Peace, who’s also a social media influencer took to Twitter and shared, “The only problem I have with that show is that Mohale has to relive the divorce, the bullying, and the noise around him just when he had found peace in his life. As his friends, we are also emotionally tired to see all these things around him. Nna personally ke kgathetsi.” Peace further said that they as Mohale’s friends are going to be digging lower if Somizi and his friends continue to paint Mohale in a bad light on his reality show.

Another friend of Mohale tweeted, “None of them know how hurt and disturbed Mohale was. I’d see him break down when going to shoots, when he was home he would be overthinking because this situation was bigger than him.”
A few other celebrities also came into Mohale’s defense including Siv Ngezi and Lumko Johnson but were not mentioning names, just solely highlighting patterns of abuse between aggressors and victims. Siv simply tweeted “Hands off Mohale” while Lumko went on to share, “What is interesting about how the abuse allegations are addressed in season 5is how when the alleged aggressor is first confronted with the allegations, his response is along the lines of: “why are we focusing on the reaction and not what caused/provoked it.” Abuser 101?”
Many other users online continue to share their opinions on this proving that online opinions can be risky, especially in any situation that is personal or is being handled by the courts. This, however, has also been proof that the divorce between Somizi and Mohale is good for show ratings.
