Ask A Man continued as per usual today with Dineo Ranaka and The Naked DJ holding it down without Som Som. On Instagram, Somizi turned his comments off after his estranged husband Mohale Motaung's recording, where he accused him of abuse, got leaked. He still engaged with them on his Instagram stories and one said they missed him on Metro FM. Somizi told the fan to not worry because he will be back on Monday.
Phil Mphela reached out to SABC's Group Executive for Corporate Affairs & Marketing, Gugu Ntuli, who confirmed to him that Somizi is still taking some time off. "The SABC can confirm that Mr Somizi Mhlongo is still on a break," said the channel to Phil.
After these damning allegations were made, Somizi had decided to take some time off from the spotlight to deal with his personal issues.
He stepped back from multiple duties with Bathu and Idols SA but he still continues with his African Cuisine Sunday meals tour.
In a statement, Somizi denied abusing Mohale and also denied having a wile sex life as stated by Mohale in the audio clip.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I think that one day I would have to defend my honor as a result of someone I have loved so deeply and so genuinely deliberately harming a reputation I've worked so hard to build. For the most parts of my life, I've kept my relationships out of the public eye until my one and only marriage which you witnessed on television and other social media
“Our relationship has had its ups and downs but I have never been physically or knowingly emotionally abusive towards my estranged husband. I vehemently deny the allegations of criminal acts towards him and would like to clear my name of that defamation.
He admitted that they fought but he was only defending himself, “What I am going to state, however, is that we had one altercation in which I had to defend myself and both of us were physically hurt by the other. I am, at this stage, not at liberty to dive deeper into the details but can state that he is not a victim in this situation.”

“I have been accused of sabotaging his efforts to be financially independent and can confirm that I have never made a concerted effort to block his networks. In fact, I have encouraged it. I have, even through my own channels, petitioned for opportunities for him to make money through my networks and I've amplified some of the work he's done through his campaigns.
"There have been publications of stories related to our sex life and a lot of what has been said is absolutely untrue. These are very personal matters and I would like to keep it as such.”
