Thuli Phongolo first got introduced to us as an actress who starred on Generations: The Legacy. She then ventured into DJing which is raking in so much money for her and gained her even more exposure. But is her music career taking more of her time that she abandons acting?
Last week, Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela revealed that Thuli P got axed from the series, where she plays Lerato, because she went missing in action (MIA.) "The role of Lerato on #TheWifeShowmax, has unexpectedly been written out of the show. Sources claim the decision was made to drop the role due to Phongolo going M.I.A," reported Phil Mphela.
Confirming the news to various media houses was Stained Glass spokeswoman Nomfundo Zondi, but she said the agreement was mutual, ‘Yes, we can confirm that Thuli Phongolo’s character ends in the episodes airing on Thursday, 13 January 2021. This was by mutual agreement, due to schedule clashes.”
Now, sources told Daily Sun that Thuli allegedly got fired because she would give producers a hard time by not showing face during shootings and would sometimes arrive at her own time. Thuli really inconvenienced the producers so much to the point where they had to scrap her character.
“She gave the production team a hard time. If she was not late for shootings, she would not come at all. This forced producers and writers to make last-minute plans, and that was an inconvenience for them,” a source told the publication.

This comes months after Thuli gushed over the cast members of The Wife and said they are the best team to work with, “I’m glad you guys have finally met Lerato! What a job she is, oh but I love her! You just never see her coming because she hides her layers well, but everything she does, she does with intent ... things get quite interesting!”
“Happy to be a part of the phenomenon that’s Hlomu: The Wife, enjoying the cast so much! An original, a love story with a twist,” she added. “The support we give each other on ‘Hlomu’ is heartwarming! Thoroughly enjoying working with these formidable actors! My goodness.”
People thought her reason for being written off is because of her "bad acting" which is a bit far fetched because she is talented. And another thing many suspected was DJ Maphorisa saying she went AWOL because of him. '
Maybe Thuli's busy schedule is also the cause of this because she said she had a lot to be grateful for as she was constantly busy, "3 running campaigns, 2 productions (acting gigs), DJ gigs back-to-back, music on the way, YT soon (mixes and all) and 2 major contracts under my company."
"I wish I could send GOD flowers, give him half of everything or something! Gratitude does not seem enough for the amount of blessings he’s pouring into my life!" she tweeted.
