Podcast and Chill with MacG, Sol Phenduka, and Ghost Lady was touted as the fastest-growing YouTube channel of 2022. This is as the channel which boasted over 350 000 subscribers at the top of 2022 more than doubled its subscribers by the end of the year with it now sitting with over 860 000 subscribers and counting.
The road to this achievement was paved with numerous controversies, emotional episodes, and subscribers falling in love with more than just the three “onscreen” personalities. Whether it was the touching Dr. Malinga episode, the dismissal of fan-favourite staffers like Aya Prow and Maligant or sit-down interviews with polarising figures like Gogo Maweni.
All of these and more have paved the way for the podcast to soon achieve the gold YouTube plaque. An achievement that is believed will come as a result of the much anticipated Black Coffee tell-all.
Will Black Coffee's Podcast and Chill Interview result in million subscribers?
ZAlebs on Wednesday, 8 February 2023, was one of the first publications to share that “leaked” information which confirmed that following earlier delays, that the Black Coffee tell-all was now in the bag. This was after footage from behind-the-scenes was shared on social media.
However, as the news spread, a number of debates started to arise. The biggest of which was the suggestion that Black Coffee chose Podcast and Chill because he knew that Enhle Mbali would never agree to be on the podcast due to the idea that the podcast is misogynistic and “women-hating.”
As a result, Enhle Mbali would not be afforded a right to reply and Black Coffee could continue “playing the victim” as it is continually alleged when she speaks about his side of events.
This is a similar narrative which sparked the most recent back and forth between the two exes. As reported at the time:
… Black Coffee then shared how the events of the past two years have not only shaped his perspective on life currently. But he shared how the abuse allegations by his ex-wife forced him to confront his own childhood traumas as he too had an abusive father.
“The day my ex accused me of physically harming her, nothing was the same. It has left a heavy void in my heart a void I can’t shake off. I lost a big part of myself, no court of law could ever fix the pain and shame I still carry today,” Black Coffee tweeted.
This is as a result of the back and forth, which ended with Black Coffee being alleged to have been behind the recent allegations of Enhle dating a married man and being willing to enter into a polygamous marriage to keep that relationship. A matter that has since been resolved and confirmed to have not been initiated by Black Coffee.
As such, it is believed that his upcoming interview with Podcast and Chill might be the perfect content required for the podcast to achieve its one million subscribers milestone. A fact which co-host Sol Phenduka seemed to believe was possible as he reacted to the new suggested manifestation post.
Currently, only time will tell as there has not been an official release date to the much anticipated episode.
