“Think fashion, money, sex, drama and ALL the secrets…” Terry Phetho who's the casting director warned last week and she did not lie about the fashion. Last night, the cast was joined by fellow actors and film and television stakeholders in Johannesburg for an official screening of the premiere of Savage Beauty, a new South African produced Netflix original currently streaming on Netflix.

It seems the theme subconsciously became 'high fashion' at the screening of Savage Beauty and everyone seemed to have made a great fashion impression - a first for local red carpets and we’re going to recap some of our favourite looks from the event. Television and film personalities such as Silindile Nodangala, favourite TV villain Mampho Brescia to social media influencer Lasizwe, and modern queen of the airwaves, Kaya FM’s Andy Maqondwana were present at this fashion soiree and thankfully in good looks.
The carefully curated cast by Terry Pheto has since taken social media by surprise, and got a good reception from online users that watched the pilot. It is made up of both old school and new school South African thespians that share intense on-screen synergy making it easier for the viewer to fall in love with the series onset. Dumisani Mbebe, Nthati Moeshesh, Nambitha Ben-Mazwi and Oros Mampofu are some of the big names casted for in Savage Beauty.

The gentlemen adhered to formal yet classy and suited up with burgundy being the trend while the ladies dazzled in colourful and body-hugging gowns also very much into the formal theme. Big social media favourites were Nambitha Ben-Mazwi from the ladies and actor Mpho Sebeng for the gents. Nambitha wore a bright yellow boob tubed gown with a dramatic yet classy mesh finishing at the bottom - a custom creation by Johannesburg based fashion brand Zazi Luxury which needed a whole team to help the actress get into, she shared a video of the process on her Instagram page. Mpho wore a shimmy brown and gold tuxedo suit also by local luxury suit custom makers Losmeicherie.
Dumisani Mbebe who’s also cast in the drama series switched the typical suiting style and took it back to old school in a knee low coat, a fedora and a walking cane. Oros Mampofu and John Ncamane both wore burgundy suits but different in style. Oros had an almost cropped double-breasted that worked perfectly with black chelsea boots while John kept it simple and still elegant and with a black t-shirt to class it up.
Former Isibaya actress Mampho Brescia also killed in a black and white monochromatic set by Afro-futuristic South African luxury designer brand Imprint ZA. Other celebrities that came out in good looks on the red carpet include Silindile Nodangala in a colourful African print dress,  Nthati Moshesh, Lasizwe who looked regal in a gold blazer and black pants by Lindani Styling, and Andy Maqondwa in a light green dress with dramatic sleeves by Midrand based couture brand, Karabo Designs.
