Suffocate is spreading his wings to a new show

It's always a good thing to embark on a new character especially as an actor.

Mduduzi Mabaso joins etv's Imbewu

This week, etv announced that Mduduzi Mabaso who is famously known for his role as Suffocate on Rhythm City will now also act on etv's latest drama series - Imbewu.

According to a statement released by etv, Mabaso will play the role of a self-made millionaire by the name of Majozi who went to school with Zimele.

The statement further added that Mabaso will be bringing more uncertainty to the character of Ngcolosi as he pays a surprise visit to his wife, MaZulu.

This is a great move for Mdu as he's been playing the same character for almost 10-years. But don't worry Rhythm City fans, Mdu is not leaving his role as Suffocate as he'll be on Imbewu for a few weeks.

Just a month ago, it was alleged that veteran actor Tony Kgoroge was rumoured to also join the cast of Imbewu, although at the time there wasn't any confirmation of that rumour, etv has gone out to also confirm that Tony Kgorge will also be joining the cast. Tony will be taking up the role of Zimele "Ngcolosi" Bhengu, husband to Mazulu.

The show has had its fair share of real-life drama as over the past couple of months its ex-cast member Mpumelelo Bhulose who has since been fired, made it onto the front pages of Sunday tabloid papers as it was alleged that he and fellow cast member - Leleti Khumalo did not see eye-to-eye.

According to the Sunday Sun newspaper, Bhulose was booted out of the etv drama series as he refused to take orders from Leleti Khumalo who is also the show's co-executive producer. It's alleged that the two actors had engaged in a number of verbal arguments during Bhulose's time on the show.

Well, we can't wait to see the new cast members entertain us once again.
