Mmatema Gavu stole the hearts of millions of South Africans when she was a contestant on the 11th season of South African Idols.
From the minute she stepped on that stage, the media personality was a fan favourite and her rendition of Weekend Special by Brenda Fassie is one of the most-watched performances on YouTube.
Although the starlet and her fans were shocked when she didnβt win the competition, she placed as the 1st runner up in 2015, and even though she did not get the grand prize, that has not stopped her from winning in real life.
Over the years, we have seen Mmatema become one of Mzansi's most noticeable brands, not only can she sing, but the media personality also branched out into acting and presenting. A few years ago, Mmatema bagged a role on Rhythm City.
In 2019, the beauty surprised many of her fans when she announced that she was getting married because before then, there were no clues that the media personality was in a relationship. She kept her relationship out of the prying eye of the public.
Shortly after being married, Mmatema and her hubby revealed that they were expecting their first child and since then, the pair have expanded their family. The singer is now a mom of two children and she often takes her fans into her life as a mother.

After Pearl gave birth to her son in 2020, the media personality tweeted about her journey as a new mother and how grateful she was to have extra help during that time in her life, "So grateful to have both my sisters and baby daddy taking care of baby and I during these first few days,"
She then went on to share that she is still learning and that some days are better than others, "Iβm learning...some days have been better than others, but my goodness... having my baby in my arms is an indescribable feeling. I melt when I look at that little face," she gushed.

Pearl's baby was not the only gift she received in 2020, after giving birth, Pearl gifted herself with a brand new luxurious Porsche to celebrate being a mom, "I gifted myself a push present in celebration of my first Motherβs Day."
The star who lost her mom when she was young concluded by saying, "For the longest time Motherβs Day was a reminder of what I had lost, but now I celebrate what I have been given... the gift of being a mom."
