Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions after defending title-holders Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night.
With City needing to drop points for the title to be officially clinched, Mikel Arteta’s team got the outcome it required as Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth frustrated Pep Guardiola’s side in a tightly contested match.
Eli Junior Kroupi put Bournemouth ahead, before Erling Haaland replied late to secure a point for City. However, the draw still proved insufficient to keep the title battle alive.
The stalemate means Arsenal head into the last round of fixtures with a four-point cushion at the top of the standings, confirming their championship with one match left to play.
It is Arsenal’s first top-flight league title in England in 22 years, and a significant milestone for Arteta, whose side had narrowly missed out in previous seasons. The club from North London finished second to Manchester City in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns, before ending last season behind Liverpool.
Arsenal will formally receive the Premier League trophy following their final league game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
