South African influencer and reality TV personality Faith Nketsi has reportedly been freed after a tense run-in with authorities while she was vacationing in Thailand.
The star, who has been sharing highlights of her extravagant getaway with friends across social media, is said to have been pulled aside by local officials following an alleged vape-related incident in public.
Reports claim Nketsi was briefly detained after authorities allegedly discovered a vaping device during her time in the Asian country.
Nketsi’s trip has been packed with content, as she traveled through Thailand with close friends—including Nadia Nakai and Andzelo Tivani—posting moments from yacht outings, upscale dinners, and beach days over the past several days.
While her posts painted a carefree picture, the situation reportedly shifted quickly after the alleged encounter with Thai officials.
Thailand is widely known for having some of the strictest anti-vaping rules in the world, with e-cigarettes and vaping products banned in the country since 2014.
Under Thai regulations, the importation, possession, sale, and public use of vape devices are not allowed—even for visitors.
Travelers who are found with vaping products can have the items seized, and they may also face penalties that could include fines and detention.
Nketsi has not publicly commented on the matter herself, but subsequent reports indicate she has since been released and is no longer being held by police.
